Data is revolutionizing the game of accessibility as more and more people are adopting this method as their primary source of browsing.

Data is the next step to global connectivity as it becomes increasingly common for people to access the Web via their mobile devices. With data, people can truly be on Facebook all day, being able to respond to comments and posting in seconds from almost anywhere. Data is also responsible for the surge of Twitter addicts tweeting every minute. People can instantly upload videos to YouTube from their phones, allowing the common man to provide on the spot news coverage. Moreover, data is invaluable to the modern businessman or businesswoman who must be able to respond to e-mails within seconds. Data has even made mobile banking (or M-banking) possible, as people are able to perform tasks such as transferring funds between accounts and checking their account balances. Furthermore, close to 30 million U.S. consumers alone use mobile banking. A brand new frontier, the mobile frontier, has been created in which the business world must keep up in order to maintain its connection to current and potential business prospects.

Attributable to the rise of mobile browsing, businesses are taking advantage of this new frontier and constantly innovating to keep up with the newest technological trends. In the simplest sense, companies must now format or customize their websites to make them more user-friendly to people who access the pages via mobile devices. Data is also responsible for the mobile app stores where people are able to purchase games, songs and other software online for their phones. This has become a huge market as apps have been created for just about everything; from translating between languages (for example, Navita Translator by RIM) to finding the name of a song that is playing on the radio (for example, Shazam by Apple). Additionally, QR codes (Quick Response codes) have even been adopted by marketers to more conveniently link customers to their websites and online content through QR code reader technology in smartphones. QR codes have almost taken over the streets as people can find them posted up on billboards and print advertisements. Microsoft has also been involved in this new mobile frontier, developing Microsoft tags which also perform the task of linking the physical world with online content. In a sense, data for mobile devices puts the Internet in the palm of our hands and everyone, including big business, is getting in on it.

Through the magic of data plans, the Internet is now not only available 24/7 but is accessible from almost anywhere; consequently, connecting the world in such a dynamic way that big business cannot ignore. As people‚??s confidence in mobile online activities rise we will see a decrease in our dependence on stationary computers and possibly even laptops. Innovations in communication and information technology have always been praised for bringing the world closer together. Furthermore, the ability to access online content through mobile devices is the next step towards true global connectivity. With so much potential corporations were guaranteed to take notice, resulting in this influx of online mobile support such as apps for phones as well as code generating and reading technology. Mobile devices have come a long way from just making phone calls, and with descendants such as Blackberries and iPads the world truly is moving towards a mobile frontier.
